I came to the end of darkness...

I came to the end of darkness,
Where silver lights tormented me
Like flickering candles which promised death
And a stony oblivion of stark, mad blackness,
As one beholds on an ominous sea.
I exhaled every poisonous, bated breath
That the storms of fury sent so mercilessly,
And I took the measure of their length and breadth
With a sight filled with horror at their heights,
Strewn with the denial of all comfort, all lights!-

Now the day has dawned above those terrifying, triumphant nights.
And I can greet beauty with purified eyes, unlike before-
When confusion reigned, bringing chaos to my door.

For an azure sky above has tranquilized the furious sea,
Bringing gold bejeweled with sapphire, an angel, and a symphony.
